It is not just a calling to serve the public when your grandfather is someone like Wilson Wyatt, whom Governor Ned Breathitt referred to as the “Number-One Citizen” of Kentucky. For our family, public service runs in our blood.
I have honored that family heritage, dedicating myself to educating Kentucky students. I have also tried to kindle in them the same commitment to service I learned at my grandaddy’s knee.
In recent years, the Commonwealth has faced unprecedented challenges, and much of our political leadership has failed to rise to the occasion, putting personal desires and political gain over the public good.
Granddaddy always told me, “If you don’t have anything nice to say about the job someone is doing, keep your mouth shut or be prepared to step up and do the job yourself.” Well, that is what I am doing… I am honored to say I am a candidate for the Kentucky General Assembly in House District 36.
If you don’t have anything nice to say about the job someone is doing, keep your mouth shut or be prepared to step up and do the job yourself.
I am committed to providing courageous, service-based leadership on the key issues we face as a Commonwealth.
Drugs and public safety
For years, the legislature has made a big show of addressing symptoms of crime, not the root causes of these problems. We must do more unless we just want to kick the can down the road for a few more years.
Affordable Housing
It’s unacceptable that hardworking taxpayers can’t find safe, convenient, affordable housing. Building a healthy economy should benefit all, not just the wealthy.
Schools
Schools, particularly in Jefferson County, have problems. Instead of running up the white flag and funneling taxpayer money into for-profit charter schools, we need to invest in our public schools and provide a quality education regardless of where you live. Greater accountability should come with a more significant investment because the consequences of failure are unacceptable. With a quality education, every Kentucky child will have a fair shot at a good career.
I know getting these results isn’t going to be easy. It will take dedication, hard work, and courage, but most things in life that are worth having are hard to come by.
My commitment to you
My commitment to you is that I will work tirelessly to make you… and Granddaddy proud.
